
OCTIEF Launches their new XRD and SEM Asbestos Laboratory
The OCTIEF Group has today opened their new X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) facility for asbestos and hazardous materials analysis. The facility has been made possible through a commercial partnership between OCTIEF and EAL and will serve to increase the accuracy and efficiency of determining asbestos content in polymer bound and other associated asbestos containing materials.
Whilst Polarising Light Microscopy (PLM) remains as the standard analytical method, XRD and SEM are extremely useful in determining the presence of trace levels of asbestiform mineral fibre in preformed building products and as such, the opening of this new facility further increases the OCTIEF Groups capabilities in the asbestos and hazardous materials sector…
